autumn inside and out

it is the season for first fires in the hearth.











it is the season for using images of all things harvest.











it is the season to tie up birdhouses in ribbons and burn the wicks of new candles.











it is the season for pumpkins in all shapes and sizes.











it is the season for dusting off scarecrow and perching him on a bench.











it is the season for colours.









it is the season for pulling your decorations out of storage.








and sprucing up even an apple orchard ladder.








it is one of the seasons i love.











it is the season for bundles of cornstalks.

it is the season for stacking cinderella pumpkins.

it is the season of apple gourds being put on display.

it is the season for enjoying fallen leaves.
















it is the season of blooming mums, of adding squash and gourds so you can gaze upon them.








it is a glorious season to be thankful for all we have and

reflect on the blessings our lives are full of!

early pumpkins

we have actually planted pumpkins but these came from our compost pile.

we (abbey & i) are very happy with our premature pumpkins and therefore they are already on display. even in the midst of our summer drought.
this is our favourite one. but we will see once we have harvested the ones we planted in our wheel barrow.
we are in anticipation!
and will let you know when the new ones arrive.

more garden wonders!

i can not get enough of this flower. it is about 6 feet tall now and it looks like my friend the hummingbird is taken with it as well.

i was able to capture this as the sun was coming up. this lovely humming bird decided to sit(seconds, mind you) awhile on a nearby branch.

this little fellow dragonfly looks a little worn but was enjoying sunning himself until i got too close.
there is something magical about an orange winged being flitting and fluttering about in ones garden. voila! he lit on a freshly watered wildflower. how wonderful!

i love coneflowers, they are big, lushious, reseed themselves, attract butterflies, bees, and when they go to seed they feed the goldfinch.

the single beauty of an unfurling flower! what more could one want to view.

dualing bees , i think the sunflowers face is big enough for the both of them.

wispy, purple, waving in the wind beauty that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, this is a must have in the garden.

OK , i admit it, i am beguiled by this thing called
my wildflower garden.
it started out with packets of seeds that said something like hummingbird attracting wildflowers or butterfly wildflowers. both of these i would love to attract for their beauty and their pollination. for weeks i thought
"what have i done?" i wasn't sure if it was a weed garden or a wildflower garden gone wild with weeds. but alas, it seems to be paying off. the buds are everywhere and what they will produce will definitely be a surprise(which has me looking many
times everyday). i love the
unexpected excitement of what is
coming and what colour it will be.
this has been pure fun!
