blessed morn
the air is filled with song.
the birds are in their chorus.
all is right with the world this wet morning.
watching the birds this january morn has been most satisfying...
...they seem a little more active with the rain gently falling
and not quite as cool temps... it is 59 degrees as opposed to nearly freezing.
this is downey woodpecker just a tiny thing...not more than a few inches.
he is new to dash home farm...welcome sweet boy.
mr. cardinal seems content enough.

Hi Marmee, On a rainy day in TN, isn't it fun to feed and watch the birds. I've got alot at my feeders today also.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
yes betsy, to see the little birds all a flutter and having a heyday with feeding and bathing, quite fun.
Sweet Marmee taking care of her feathered friends...
I am glad that your temperatures are much milder than ours....better for the wildlife, better for you......
The cardinals are so beautiful.....and I like the little downy woodpecker.......
A most welcoming post, Marmee. Indeed a blessed morn with beautiful guests to share it with :)
Lucky you! We've had squirrels chewing the wooden birdfeeder. They also tipped the seeds out on the ground and ate most of them.
They are so destructive!
Your little birdies cheered me up. I'm glad you have warm temps.
Just beautiful Marmee.
Dear Marmee, Bird friends are so delightful to watch during any kind of weather. They don't seem to mind a lightly falling rain at all. I think they rather like it actually as it gives them a bath they would otherwise have to look for. Very nice to see all your critter friends hanging around even in the cold months. The contrast of the red bird and the winter scene is striking. Your wooded areas provide perfect shelter and home for so many wonderful species.
well we have cooled off overnight to a brisk 31 degrees this morning. the birds are still very active today though. hope you are staying warm.
yes dearest joey, this morning is dryer and much cooler but all the birds are still very active. hope you are having a great weekend. i also love a good foggy morning as long as noone has to drive in it.
wendy, the warmer temps didn't last long, we are dry and cold this morning, 31 degrees. we can't seem to get the rain coming down on the freezing temps so we can have a nice blanket of snow. i am glad my friends cheered you.
darla,
thank you dear friend, as always you continue to be in my prayers.
dearest meems, the cardinal does pose a striking contrast with the greys and browns of this seasons colour. it is both cheery and bright. this morning has dried out with brisk temps of 31 degrees. the birds are still very active though and watching them from the sunroom this morning is delightful. with my dogs and little kitty, jade at my side and bronte' and mags at my feet, i feel quite content and warm.
Hi Marmee, how pretty your blog looks! The birds are like winter's flowers here too. We never tire of watching them. We have tried to draw them closer by sprinkling seed on the deck table and it took a couple of days then they all come to eat there now, very close to the window. So sweet they are! :-)
Frances
Your bird friends seem to enjoy the warmer temperatures, Marmee. A perfect way to spend a rainy morning!
Thank your for stopping by for a visit and for your sweet comment. I love your feathered friends! Have a sweet week!
Those cardinals brighten up even a rainy day;)
Marnie
Lovely series of photos. Great collection of birds.
I have started a 2nd blog, hope you will choose to follow it. I will be posting at it daily, but will continue to post at the original blog at time.

Hi Marmee,
Blessed is also what I feel when I get a lot of feathered visitors. Great shots, and I love the bright cardinal. Stands out in all that grayscape.
Have a wonderful 2009!!
Love the birds!! What is that on the table? Looks like seed in a saucer maybe...
I like the bird bath pic...like it's a "his and hers bath," enough space for him to have his spot and her to have hers, no splashing allowed!
