nooks and crannys

with the bleakness of winter comes the realization
that the creatures have to find places to be warm and safe.
with all the foliage missing it is easy to spot the places
they might find appealing to shelter.

nooks and crannys abound!
nature is good that way.

my gift this winter is seeing the pair of bluebirds happily
using their nesting box just outside my kitchen window.

they are delightful to watch from inside or outside when the weather is milder.

one day i will capture a proper image to show you.

you can click on the images to bring them closer for a better look.

may you all be finding pleasure as we are looking forward to the new year.

I love bluebirds. In all the years I've lived here I've only been fortunate enough to see one in my yard, and it was just passing through on it's way to somewhere else. Loved seeing yours.

Dear Marmee.....

I love the trees, you have some beautiful structures there. Works of art, insect hotels.....

Nature does provide well, if only humans let her be......

The birds look lovely sitting on the branches.......in my book, perfect

How lucky you are to have bluebirds. I have house sparrows in the barns so I don't try very hard to attract them. They are so pretty.

I have been trying to get a good photo of Carolina Wrens coming in to roost in their birdhouse on the deck.

I love bluebirds but sadly I don't have any in my garden. Maybe town is too crowded for them.

flydragon, we have been blessed with our bluebirds, they raised babies last spring and seem to be waiting to nest again.

dear cheryl,
i agree those trees look like works of art to me too.
during the winter months i like taking notice of the structural elements in and about the garden.
i love having the bluebirds as common visitors maybe even residents...

robin n p,
it is delightful to see all the birds being active here just because it warmed up a little. i love watching the bluebirds out of my window in the kitchen.

lola,
try putting up a bluebird box and see. there is a certain diameter
hole in the box. i bet they would come.

Marmee,
How fun you have the colorful blue birds this time of year to brighten the bleak structures of winter. I so love seeing the snags that nature creates for the critters. It all works together to make the environment go round and round from season to season... lovely post and lovely photos of a mostly slumbering garden... for now.

thanks meems it is delightful to see the bluebirds and get them hitting the sunshine just right and have that blue that is so striking against the barren trees.
