still sprucing up

i was going to hang these outside but i set them down on the wicker settee and liked it.
no one is going to be sitting in this frigid weather.
plus, it was too cold to stand around and think about where they would look best.

back inside to see frosty and his sidekick.
they are all the cold i need inside.

i still don't have my christmas tree up. although i do have many christmas tree reminders.
we have a tradition of cutting ours down and the tree farm is a long drive away. (approx.2 hours)the weather has been too cold and weekends too busy with nutcracker practises.
so we are waiting for a warmer weekday and will take abbey out of school and jesse is homeschooled.
i am trying to be patient. hear my foot tapping!!!

santa has shone himself here and there.
rudoulph has dressed himself with a ribbon and candles.
waiting for his christmas night flight.

i got an idea that my brightly coloured angel would rather be white.
so out came the spray paint and away went the blues, reds, and green.
i like her better this way.

she seems suited for it and has a smile of contentedness now.
this unusual reindeer/sleigh combination is fun and i love it.
i put it somewhere different every year.
it hasn't found it's perfect place this year yet.
but it is out of storage looking...

here...

and there...
and now off i must be to the cold outdoors...
happy weekend all!

We use to go cut down a tree when the kids were little. We have many wonderful memories of those trips to the tree farm!
I love the snowshoes sitting on wicker...great look! And I love the snowmen (of course!) :). You always have such pretty decorations!

Your house is pretty. I absolutely love the Nutcracker. Listen to it and watch it every year.
Good luck with your tree. Hope you find a good one.

You are so incredibly talented, Marmee... I love Mr. Snowman and 'Little One.' TOO CUTE!!!! I love your Santa also... NEAT pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Everything is coming together very beautifully, Marmee. Your decorations are a marvel... especially like the snow shoes on the bench. For some reason I always put my tree up last. Ours is in the stand - still in the garage waiting for me to string the lights. I'll get to it tomorrow... I think.

All you decorations look so nice. I like you white and gold snowmen sitting by that pretty candle. They look real good together. And your angel does have the sweetest look on her little face. Enjoyed much!

cheryl,
are you saying that everyone helps decorate your house? that is a very cool idea. it is always a little caotic in this household around christmas but it makes for a very fun entertaining time with lots of family and friends coming and going. we have lots of traditons the kids, even the grown kids won't let pass by, they want it all.

Hi Marmee, you are being patient about waiting to get your tree! I do like the angel better white too, serene and sacred. All of your decorations are lovely.

How very lovely ... and Christmassy! :) What on earth is that in the first photo? It looks like a wooden tennis racquet! Dont laugh please? I'm just a dyed-in-the bone tropical lady. What would I know about all things cold and shivery? ;)
I love that angel in white. Yeah, she does look happier in white.

Cutting down your own tree is a nice tradition to share with your family. My youngest has allergies so we have an artificial tree that we use every year. I love the decorations you have displayed.

I like your decorations. the snow man is so cute. I have a friend who collects them. You remind me I haven't gotten mine out yet.

frances,
do your friends call you frances, or do you have a nickname? i always want to say fran or franny.
i'm not really but the weather is still not cooperating, we might have to make an exception this year and buy one from a lot.
glad you are enjoying the decor.

sunita,
oh that's okay i am a florida girl but i found these at one of my favourite antiques places, they are called snow shoes to make walking in snow easier. they don't really make them like this anymore but i like all things old.
i think you are right the angel in white is much more happy.

marnie,
dh just keeps bringing stuff out of storage. a few at a time. we moved from a much larger house that had plenty of storage and i have no idea where some things are. now i can't find the stockings? what am i supposed to do about that, hang up socks, lol maybe. that snowman has made the rounds but still delights me.

pgl,
i have kids with allergies too but not to trees, cats and dogs. i am sure they all enjoy the tree, we have little 3-4 ft ones i put each of the kids rooms with their own decorations on them. they love the twinkle lights and the glow it puts in their rooms. i am glad you have enjoyed seeing my christmas trimmings.

Lovely stuff! Painting something white really can transform it into a much more serene object, love how the angel looks! Thanks for visiting and commenting at my blog, Marmee.
