thanksgiving and autumn happens to be my favourite holiday and time of the year.
it is all about family...being together....laughing....listening...telling....
decorating and trimming the house...getting the tree...wrapping presents...............
we were able to get the tree and put it up the day before thanksgiving....which is a first for us.
two of our sons were there to help...david cut off the bottom of the tree while jesse was helping hold it steady.
i saved the trimmings from the tree for some homemade garlands to hang.
we had some very interested first timers, for us, that were viewing our christmas traditions.
renny and beatrice wondering what in the world we are doing bringing a tree into the house.
just wait until the lights go on it.
i am reluctantly moving into the cooler season not wanting to give up on autumn....but with the nutcracker performances just around the corner and the leaves almost all gone....except a few here and there like these gorgeous oak leaf hydrangeas....i know it is just a matter of a few weeks before our winter sets in.
the days just keep getting shorter and my internal time clock does not adjust. i am home alone and take a walk with the dogs.
after the initial hoar frost back in early fall...we have had relatively mild weather.
it is cool but not cold...this time of day is always extra beautiful when the sun gives off it's golden amber hues. even the fence line glows at this hour.
a walk just isn't the same without buster brown, our chesapeake bay retriever...wanting to retrieve something.....usually his favourite thing....his frisbee.
sometimes in mid~ air....sometimes...with three or four other dogs in his way.
sometimes in mid~ air....sometimes...with three or four other dogs in his way.
whether it is in the clearing or in the tall grasses....
where you can barely see him go....
buster comes thru with his prized possession....his red kong frisbee....
it makes the walk more fun....
the neighbour's cows barely even look up to see the raucous we are making.

Thank you for coming by my blog for a visit!
:) T
My how Bea has grown. I love your surroundings and the way you capture them. This time of the year does go by way to fast..
Great photos. Many of the stores bypassed Thanksgiving and headed straight from Halloween to Christmas. I guess someone has to create some "Thanksgiving" candy to keep our interest. Thanks.
I can't believe it's almost Christmas myself. I love fall and it comes and goes way too quickly for me.
You are so organized-getting your tree ready early. It is turning very cold here so maybe it will force me into a winter frame of mind. Like you, I can't believe how fast the holidays are rushing at us.
Marnie
Great pictures, Marmee... I always love to see pictures of your family. Enjoyed your Thanksgiving ones also.
Yes---we quickly go from Thanksgiving into the Christmas season, don't we??? AND---we also go from Fall to Winter... It all happens so fast.
Looks like a great walk.
Hugs,
Betsy
Dear Marmee....such a lovely heart warming post. Thank you for that wonderufl walk with your dogs. For a brief moment in time I was walking with you in silence, just taking in your world.
I do love Christmas with the children....we have yet to get our tree. In another couple of weeks we will drive to our local farm and choose one. It is a wonderful family time of year.
May you and yours enjoy each and every moment.
Good morning Marmee, I loved walking with you today~~It has been lovely these past few weeks, but this morning the frost is gorgeous...I know you'll be out and get a few delightful shots to share with us. Have a sweet day. gail
What a lovely post, Marmee! I hate to see autumn leave, too, but you have captured so much beauty in the changing of the seasons here. With such a busy time for you, walks like this must be a treasured moment of peace in your day.
I think it has been awhile since I have been here to visit--Beatrice has grown so much!
Thanks for a lovely walk Marmee. It was so needed. Your surroundings are so pretty. For a moment one must stop & take in all that is so abundant for us to enjoy.
Yes, even the fence row is speaking to us. "Come on home" where there is warmth, laughter, food & a whole lot of love for family.
Lovely photos Marmee. Bea has grown into such a a beauty, it was lovely to see all the dogs. I enjoyed the walk with you.
Christmas is approaching so quickly and as usual I am nowhere near ready!
On the previous post your Thanksgiving celebrations looked wonderful and the food delicious. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Rachel and Jesse.
