glorious autumn

quite a random smattering of photos but all in the autumnal sense.
i was able to find this little bird house for some of
our littlest of friends...for shelter
from the winter cold that is coming.
.
two little friends have already found it.

abbey painted this bird house a few months ago and it finally found a
home in some bare branches awaiting it's homemakers.

the colours at this time of year are dear to my heart...i love the
blushes of orange, red and yellows...
these two photos were on a friends xanga site and i love the
feel and quality...even in the grey tones of some of these autumnal
days there is beauty.
october, november, december, all bring about family gatherings...
this is another reason way i love this time of year so much.
.
.
ellery rose is one of my grands...she is in kindergarten and
had to go dressed like a scarecrow recently...she is the cutest
little thing.
i love when the wind blows and the leaves fall like raindrops...
covering the ground and sparkling on their way down.
i can never quite capture the beauty of such a thing.
big sis, esther, giving little sis, abbey, some pointers on riding renny.
watching older children teaching younger ones is priceless...
i could watch this all day....and never say a word.
love and family and autumn....are all the grandest things.
grace and abbey share an embrace.
breathe....take in every moment.....life is precious.

Great post, Marmee... I also love this time of year---even the raking and leaf-blowing.. ha

That new little birdhouse is precious. I've never seen one like that.

Hugs,

The last photograph is so beautiful....tender and gentle.

I love to see Abbey on Renny.....it so reminds me of my daughter when she was younger. Abbey is so lucky to have her own horse.....

I understand when you say 'I can never quite capture it'....there have been so many moving moments this autumn but I have been unable to capture the scene. Perhaps my camera does not share the emotion that is in my heart!!

Marmee,

How beautiful! I love this time of year and I always feel the need to provide for our feathered friends.

I too love to watch my children interact with each other. It is priceless to me.

The first little birdhouse you pictured is so cute. I'm glad two little birdies have found it.

Marmee,
I am so happy you shared these photos today... it puts me in the autumnal mood even without the chill in the air I wish we had... it is cool but 72 degrees and sleeveless (after dark) isn't exactly autumnal for most.

I can see why the birdies found the new birdhouse so quickly ... so natural looking... reminds me a little of those little huts we used to put in the finch cages. Memories.

Hugs to you dear sis,
Meems

darla,

those boots are so cute and fun to watch abbey wearing them.
happy autumn.

betsy,
we don't rake leaves around here...otherwise it would be our full time job...of course they occasionally get blown off. this is the most beautiful time of the year.
happy autumn.

cheryl,

wouldn't it be wonderful to capture the essence of what we saw and felt at the time of the shot.
i wish i knew more about taking photos...the technical part of it, i mean.
i really enjoy watching abbey ride too...reminds me of me when i was a young girl. so much freedom to do and feel when out there alone with your horse.
i love capturing intimate moments in life with my children and with my grands.
happy autumn.

that little birdhouse reminded me of the little houses we used to use for the finches too. i loved the natural fibers it was made of.
the weather here has been really nice. today was especially pretty...cool with the sun shining...doors open. my kind of day. hope yours are still cooling down.
