pumpkin art

we had a very fun art project this week.
since we were not able to carve pumpkins on several different occasions
because of inclement weather...we had more than our share of

pumpkins sitting around....just waiting to be decorated.

so we pulled out our very best looking ribbons...our scrap booking papers...
glue...glitter....anything that you could embellish & decorate with.
then we picked our favourite pumpkins with the smoothest skin.

and away we went......to a land....

of fanciful pumpkins....where heart doilies became hats....ribbon
braided became hair...glitter became lips...

and voila......a masterpiece by abbey.

here is my paper mache' creation.

it was so much fun abbey wanted to do another one.

so on went the top~hat for the boypumpkin to go with the girl already created.
there was lots of ribbon used for his hair.

.

abbey worked on this one for several days.....until.....

she came up with a very handsome fellow.

i stuck with the paper mache' except newspaper
was my medium this time. then i added the letter g.
.
we had a great time decorating our pumpkins and now they are on display.

.

happy times in november.

Hey Mom,

I am so glad yall finally got to do this!! They look great! I love Abbey's boy & girl couple...they are so cute. The top hat idea was the best! And your's turned out so beautiful! I love the contrast in colors on your first one, and on your second one.....always great when you can add a monogram with such style! Well, Ruby is having her puppies right now! The best thing is that she let me sleep all night (only waking up a couple of times to check on her). Then she started about 6:30 this morning whinning. We haven't had any yet but they are on the way. The contractions are getting closer and closer together! I will keep you posted. Love you!

I always thought that autumn, my favorite season, doesn't last nearly long enough. I like your idea of stretching the season. I'm also glad to see that homeschooling is alive and well!

Abbey did a great job. Mr and Mrs;) Kind of reminds me of the Mr Potato Head game we played when I was a kid.
