ice

we all went to the ice show together.

it is so cold in there you have to mentally prepare yourself.

cold like a meat locker.

the sun was shining outside, which made it easier to go in

to the frozen tundra.

jess, ethan with elle on shoulders, canaan, gwyn and abbey

ethan and his beautiful girlfriend, canaan

ethan and jess acting silly

the ice sculptures are quite amazing.

we are now part of the who-nation.

me and dh weren't hugging we were trying to stay warm, lol.

abbbey seems undaunted by the freezing temps.

the nativity is very beautiful and big.
the whole room is clear ice and lights shining behind them.
on our way out to get hot cocoa.
we all had a fun time and now we will thaw out just a bit.

locks of love

sometimes my children surprise me.
tonight(2 am) after our new years eve dinner...
after the fireworks...
after sitting around the campfire...
after thawing out...
my youngest son jesse decided it was time to cut his hair.
he had been talking about donating it.
after we looked up locks of love online...
after we measured his hair in a ponytail to be 12 inches...
after washing it...
after blowing drying it...
after straight ironing it...

...we cut it...
very nice my handsome young man...with a big heart.

i am so proud of you jesse!

nooks and crannys

with the bleakness of winter comes the realization
that the creatures have to find places to be warm and safe.
with all the foliage missing it is easy to spot the places
they might find appealing to shelter.

nooks and crannys abound!
nature is good that way.

my gift this winter is seeing the pair of bluebirds happily
using their nesting box just outside my kitchen window.

they are delightful to watch from inside or outside when the weather is milder.

one day i will capture a proper image to show you.

you can click on the images to bring them closer for a better look.

may you all be finding pleasure as we are looking forward to the new year.

my son and i

beautiful blue skies over dash home farm.

recently my son jesse and i were on our charming drive home.
when we saw the most beautiful hawk.
so we rushed into the driveway...ran in...grabbed
our cameras and headed back down the road...
...the hawk had flown.

however there are some other interests that caught our eyes.
these are some of the other wonderful creatures our road.
this heavy coated beauty lives two doors down.

this unlikey duo lives on a farm at the bend in our road.

isn't this the sweetest eyed donkey?
jesse was playing with the effects on this one.
here is one of our own creatures bronte jane, one of our chessies.

jess and i playing with different settings on the camera, having fun with jade.
she is a sweet kitten.

as night falls we appreciate the day we had together.

and look up to see we are being watched...

it has been a good day!
