blue sky, bare branches and buds

the sunset yesterday gave way to more sunshine with
nearly cloudless blue skies today...glorious.




it is still very cold and the wind has a bite to it that makes
your cheeks wish they were covered.
still i have to be thankful for the one thing i miss most in winter....sunshine.



so i walk about the farm, closing my eyes at times to really try to
soak in the rays of heat from our sun.

at once i feel the promise of spring and warmer days ahead in the
near future....there is a hope in the air.


everything looks more distinct and beautiful with a blue backdrop.
i see buds....buds...yes, a sure sign of winter breaking away and giving
passage to days of leisure walks in the sun, times to plant seed, days of
feeling the earth in your hands.



reading poetry comes to mind on a open quilt...spread wide for reclining.



i will admit it....i struggle over the long winter days.



i wish i wasn't so affected by the weather.



now with the possibilities of what seeds are to be
placed in the ground...my thoughts soar.



i miss the garden, the warm dirt in between my fingers.

i miss the anticipation of newly planted seeds breaking forth

verdantly through the landscape.

.

i miss green....leaves, grass, bushes.

i miss blue....skies, pools, beaches.

i miss colours of the rainbow....pinks, yellow,

reds, whites, oranges in the petals of flowers.

i need the sunshine for inspiration.

.

even the brown garden in it's disarray now holds promise, hope.

there will be fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs in these very spots.

we are taking steps toward spring...buying seed, planning areas of plantings.

soon we shall be free to spend lots of time outdoors...

in the light of the sun

the sun was shining in the sky and there was not a cloud in the sight.

wonderful green shoots are everywhere.

mr. downey woodpecker was delighted with the

weather and the new suet.

mr. red-winged blackbird seemed to sense the peace in the air.

our garden angel was happily sitting in the sun.

along side the pretty faced pansies.

newly potted marigolds( a gift from an admirer of abbey at the market.)

mr. american goldfinch was basking and supping at the same time.

the sun was shining and a cool breeze blowing.

so off to the farmer's market we went.

we love to buy from our local farmers and artists.

we are part of "csa" community supported agriculture.

this our first year and it is with beaverdam creek farm.

we are very excited to be joining in this time around.

we have met lots of farmers at the market and we

made the decision to support this one.

we will be getting a share every week come harvest.

abbey is quite the little shopper at the market...everyone

is quite taken with her.

we bought handmade soy candles. peppermint for abbey.

lime/coconut for me.

dh and buster brown talking with local beefalo farmers from crabtree farms.

a friend of ours was having her baby's portrait sketched.

there were hand knitted scarfs and hand thrown

pottery. it was all glistening in the sunshine.

abbey's is fond of blue. she picked a blue/black/purple scarf.

there were potted gardens to take home.
it was such a lovely day with the sun's rays warming us...

being together...getting fresh food...in my book perfect.

looking up today was a must...

...we had a beautiful blue sky...

...complete with big fluffy whites.

everything looked great against the crisp azure sky.

as we walked we notice a rather large tree

had been felled...it makes for a great photo op...
...buster brown is always quite the obliging subject...

...bronte' jane...not so much...it took several

tries to get this...she has no idea what stay means.

with the sun shining and a slight breeze blowing...

...even the moss looked like it was blooming...

...not much else is...this branch has a wonderful sculptural quality.

we took a familiar path with a few different turns...

...to uncover some safe havens for the creatures...

...and a massive stand of twisted branches...

...with fungi, moss, lichen...

...a heart leaf in the tree...reminding me of valentines...you have

to look for it... but it is there.

it was a wonderful day to be outdoors...

same plant different perspectives...just goes to

show you it is how you look at things...
