we are quite frozen over...here at the farm.
daybreak always looks pretty but with snow
all over the place...even more so.
we are staying put.
after a failed trip to atlanta on the day of the worst of
it...getting stranded in manchester, tn overnight...about
an hour and forty~five minutes away with regular
weather...but 4 hours away in these conditions...white~knuckle driving.
all is well and we are home safe.

Oh Marmee, I'm sorry you got stranded. I always worry about people out on the roads when the weather is so bad. I know you loved seeing that beautiful home.
We are staying PUT also... We had so much ice that everything is very treacherous around here... See my blog today!!!
Glad you are back home safe and sound.
Hugs,
Betsy
It is frightening driving in those conditions....so pleased the whole family are home safely.
Our snow went just over a week ago. We had very similar conditions to you. It took my husband five hours to do a 30 minute trip....it was no fun.
I am glad the snow has gone....it does look pretty but that is it......
Gorgeous photos! Love your home...I am so glad you all are safe and tucked in...
Glad everything turned out safe. This is the time of the year where you can see the moon and sun at the same time. Beautiful shots against a snowy background.
It looks like you are more than a little frozen. Kind of like us also. Wait a couple of months and it will all be gone.
betsy,
i was so happy to turn down our frozen street...i would have gotten out and ran the whole way.
unfortunately we had a lovely mother/daughter birthday celebration planned in atlanta at american girl but alas we will have to postpone.
i think with these conditions it is better to just stay home.
hugs to you dear betsy.
cheryl,
it is definitely harder on places that are not used to having these types of conditions on a regular basis. the storm was so bad and driving was just plain dangerous so we pulled over and stayed overnight. it was quite a disappointment for us all but i was so grateful to be safe. there were cars littered all over the highway.
i am glad you are free from it.
keep safe my friend.
darla,
first let me say congrats on your photo winning on ggw. you must be so pleased.
second thanks and lastly i hope you are doing well.
hhg,
it was such a beautiful morning. the light from the moon glowing on the snow and then the sun lighting up the front of the house. really a stunning sight...and all quiet too.
thanks for visiting.
bill,
it is so unusual for us to have this much snow and be frozen too.
i very much am anticipating spring.
Hi Marmee, I remember well the snowstorms we had when I lived in Tennessee. The highway departments simply do not have the equipment to make the roads safe for travelers. I'm glad you made it home with no serious mishaps.
Marnie
marnie,
we were the fortunate ones...to make it safely home. i think this might be the worst storm since i have lived here these ten years.
we are home now and staying put.
stay safe and happy february.
I can imagine it's great to be home, Marmee! Many years ago (compelled to drive through a blizzard to say goodbye to my sister who was headed to Afghanistan in the Peace Corps) we were stranded (in an old VW ... no heat since forced heat) for over 14 hours on on an interstate highway ... I thought we were dead donuts ... no fun :(
joey...again we find ourselves able to relate to one another. we were headed for a mother/daughter birthday celebration with abbey her two big sisters and their daughters. one coming up from fl who made it and the rest of us from tn whom didn't make it.
it was a disappointment but at least we are all safe.
happy february
Oh. My! Those photos are exquisite... so hard to imagine your red house all dressed in white. That is quite the blanket of snow. The moon was breathtaking this weekend... your captures are marvelous. Glad you are home safely.
Meems
Glad you are safe. I don't like driving in snowy weather.
We had 5 inches over the weekend and just stayed home.
Lisa Q
it was quite the adventure on last friday as we headed out in what we thought was ahead of the storm.
when i rounded the corner and saw my house all covered in snow i was so grateful and it was such a pretty sight to me. the next morning was the beauty of the moon and the sun. we are still quite covered in the white stuff even today.
happy february.
lisa,
i don't like it either but when we left there was no snow at all...in an hour and 45 minutes the roads were not only covered but they were icy too. very scary.
we are grateful to be home safe.
happy february.
First, I'm so glad you are safe. I've tried to keep up with the weather up there & it seems it has been one of the worst ones in a long time.
Your home is magnificent. A dream, no wonder you are so happy there. It comes thru in your blog.
Do stay warm.
Happy Feb.
lola,
it is the worst storm we have had since we have lived here for 10 years. i am so thankful and grateful to be safe too.
i was never so happy to see home.
happy february.
Oh my goodness...first I'm glad you are back safe and sound and secondly your farm is just so inviting and lovely! Enjoy your snowbound days...we've had only rain this winter, bleck! Kim
OMG! To attempt a road trip on such a bad day was not a good idea. So glad you made it home safely. The roads were really bad. It is raining now so hopefully we are done with the snow. Now on to spring!
Sorry to hear you didn't make it to Atlanta but am glad you are safe and warm. That's a beautiful pic of your snowy home.
kim,
we have had our lion's share of rain...as a matter of fact...it is raining right now. everything around is so muddy. i can't keep my floors clean...yuck.
happy february.
tina,
