rarely do i get inspired to accomplish cooking something
the same day i am reading or glancing at a new recipe
but today was different because i had most of the ingredients
on hand and it was a chilly winter's day.
my sister, meems posted this recipe on her:
for the love of florida blog.
what doesn't sound good about "tummy warming comfort food?"
nothing i thought plus i love a good soup on such a chilly day.
you will find the recipe in full over on her blog.
sauteed leeks, celery, garlic, carrots, onions all in a stick of butter.
fresh chopped parsley and basil.
few days ago. i substituted this for the chicken.
just a bit of season~all salt, and a fairly new favourite of mine
in soups....hungarian paprika. it adds a little bit of a kick.
but not too much because i don't love spicy foods.
served with a couple of loaves of pumpernickel bread.

this may become one of our new favourite soups.
very yummy and satisfying on this winter night.
we are that much closer to spring.

YUM YUM! That was delicious Marmee, I could even smell it! Your photos showed it to perfection. There is something very comforting about a hearty bowl of soup on a cold Winter's day.
I enjoyed your previous 'Snowy Days' post too and all the photos. It is snowing here again as I type.
Guess what? I'm going to get myself a bowl of soup in a minute, it will only be out of a tin (shame on me) as I am in a hurry but I shall add my own bits and pieces to make it more tasty :)
It sounds really good. I'll check out the recipe now.

jan,
it was and is so good. it does take some time to make though but so worth it and the smell all day long...warms the soul. especially on these long grey winter days.
happy february.
marnie,
it would be a great thing to make for your cold weather days. enjoy.
happy february.
Hmmmm... somehow Wild Rice PHEASANT soup sounds so much more exotic than chicken. I know your soup was scrumptious. Thanks for the link love, Sis. And glad you dove in head first to make your own rendition of my fave soup.
hugs***
Meems
Oh, that sounds so good. More so on a cold winter's night. How did you come by a pheasant? Did you find it in a grocery store.?
I love comfort food and soup hits the nail on the head for me.
I bet your soup was delish!
Yum, perfect for this snowy day, Marmee. Stay warm!
