contrast of seasons

this time of year reminds me of new beginnings but in the reverse order.

things are getting ready to rest...dying off.
it is spectacular...september bliss.

this is the time when things are changing.
the leaves seemingly transform hues effortlessly.

berries are emerging....readying themselves to be eaten.

goldenrod is always a sure sign of autumn...the bugs are enjoying the cover it gives.

the corn stalks need to be cut.

wild grasses verses cut grass....the war of the grasses.
especially with all the rain.

flowers are dying out but left for the birds to eat the seeds.
dead sunflowers stand against a beautiful sunset like soldiers.

the zinnias are somewhat fading. still there are new blooms.

comos showed up late...

....but we love them just the same.
grasses stay up longer because it is just too wet to cut for hay. soon/maybe.
these days are cooler, less humid...

happy autumn.

I like the picture of the two different grasses together. We have some cooler temps going on so it definitely feels like fall.

I suppose it's a good thing autumn is so beautiful. Since it ushers in the winter, it needs a lot of redeeming qualities.

Hey Marmee,
We were a brisk 72 degrees this morning ~~~ the coolest weather in months. Yay... less humidity then ... now it is creeping back.

All your pretty photos are getting me in the mood for fall. Although we will not see it change here like there... not even close... I will count on you to keep me supplied with these wonderful images.

Is that a caterpillar on the dead zinnia head? All that rain I'm surprised they survived.

Loved all the berries.
Blissful Autumn, dear sister.

Lovely photos Marmee. I can't believe how the year is so quickly showing signs of drawing to a close!
My Cosmos too were very late and the tallest I have ever seen them, one is taller than me, it is huge!

Many, many congratulations to Abbey on her wonderful ballet achievement, what a talented young lady she is :)

Love your header. Just trying to catch up as I had problem with puter.
Fall is for sure here as it has cooled off a bit. I love the Fall of the yr. as it is time for all nature to rest to give us more beauty & bounty next yr.
This past time has served it's purpose with promise of the future giving us the renewal that we have to have.
Loved all you pics. Brings memories of youth that are etched in the mind.

marnie....i know how you feel about winter...i don't like it either. it never bothered me while i lived in florida with all the sunshine. that is what i don't like at all about winter is the lack of sunshine.
