Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. I have one bush. It's the only really decorative plant on the place as I've not been able to put in a yard as yet. It has no fragrance, though.
Lovely blooms, pink peonies are my favorite--altho I like white and red too. In fact, what's not to like about all peonies. Mine are still a week or more away from bloom. Marnie
Hi Marmee- I love your peony blooms! I am going to dig some from my mom's office and plant them in my yard. I hope they are nearly as pretty as yours are! -Heather
Beautiful peonies! Good luck with selling your house--ours was on the market far longer than I expected--but at least you can still enjoy these lovely flowers.
Congratulations to your son on his graduation! You must be very proud of him.
I love peonies! Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a few that bloomed in the summer! I just might have to head out to see if I can find a few more fragrant ones for this garden...have a sweet day marmee! gailGail
i can't believe yours isn't fragrant...i didn't know of such a thing. i really love mine and have planted more from bare root at the farm...it will be a few years before i get blooms though.
welcome to "things i love". normally i answer on a more timely manner but with the end of school and so many graduations...i am behind. if you have access to some to bring home you should...they might be in shock but will recover nicely. i see them in peoples yards and you know that they don't pay one bit of attention to them.
if only we could have a bit of all of the flowers in our gardens...i am always dreaming of the next bloom...or should i say daydreaming. happy wednesday to you.
you have to experience a peony even if it is in the nursery...they are the most fragrant flower with so many petals ...really go find one and just sniff.
with your love of roses...i would say yes...you need some of these. they remind me of roses but not so fussy and no thorns either. the petals go on and one forever. they make wonderful cut flowers...and there is always plenty to share.
oh i wish you could grow them too. they are wonderful and i really could have a whole peony area...maybe i should. not this year too much already going on.
thank you, thank you on both accounts...i can't believe our house hasn't sold but with the market in the tank...there are empty houses everywhere. i am grateful to be able to get these gorgeous cut flowers out of the deal...the ones here just aren't blooming yet and with all the rain not sure what they are going to do this year.
i have been through so many different emotions about not selling the house...frustrating is the one constant...i am trying to just wait and be patient...three years worth. the peonies would cheer anybody and the scent is heavenly.
now that i have my magnolia in the ground perhaps i will have those too...i mean here. i still go cut those from the city house too. i used the branches from there last year at thanksgiving.
i know that some of my favourite blooms are so short lived but maybe that is why i like them so much coz they aren't around very long...i say add some if you have a place for them...your yard always looks so pretty and full of blooms. have a wonderful week my friend.
The peonies are in full bloom at my house too. I have many bushes. I never knew until just the other day they are my husband's favorite bloom. He never told me... they do smell divine! Sherry
I love the pictures you posted. Well done, especially the peonies. Ilovepeonies. Started out to buy 2peonies and came home with 25 varieties. When in bloom, I have a Peony Extravaganza.
Now is the time to start looking for what peony to add to your peony garden.
