first lesson

day one in ocala...
here we come "reny"

what a sweet boy...he just put his head down so abbey
could reach to put the halter on.
isn't he a beauty...we think so
into the barn...

...for a good brushing...
getting the saddle...
safety first...
in the round pen...
now a few adjustments...in covered arena...
let's get some of the basics down...
way to ride abbey...
horse and rider getting to know each other...
follow the leader...
sisters, chatting up about horses...
going beyond the borders of the arena...
a lesson well taught and well done, bravo girls.

If that was the first lesson, Abbey did great... She looked so 'at ease' on the horse... I'm impressed... I'll bet she cannot wait for Lesson 2...

Thanks for sharing.. Sounds like you all are having a great time.
Hugs,
Betsy

Marmee, I was hoping you'd post some horse photos. This was great. My love of horses started about the time I learned to walk and has continued thru my life. I'll never regret that my youth was spent riding with friends instead of hanging at the malls or joy riding in cars.

I'm so cross with myself Marmee, for missing your last few posts, but that is rectified now as I have put you on my side bar so I can keep an eye on you! ;)

What a wonderful time you are having and Abbey looks so at ease on that beautiful horse.

Many congratulations on Jesse's wonderful achievement, what a lovely young man he looks. Also congratulations to little Ellery, who is starting on the journey which Jesse has just completed. I wish them both all the very best for their future happiness.

I loved your Paeony photos, I have some pale pink ones which are only in bud but they have a wonderful scent. The red ones which I put on my post sadly have no scent at all.

I really enjoyed this post. You've captured the essence of this very important lesson completely. I love how the girls ride so completely free and natural-looking. Beautiful horses.

One day, I hope to go back to horse-back riding. I took lessons for about a year and then family obligations forced me to stop. To ride like the wind on the back of a horse - sounds just awesome to me!

betsy,

my older daughter esther said the only problem she might have with abbey is her being overly confident...wow if only we all had that problem.
they are having fun being together and i am down visiting with meems. so i will see the improvement when i go back.
thanks for coming by and giving your hugs.

faith,

it is a really beautiful place to train horses and be able to learn your lessons. i am so happy for esther to live there and for us to visit.
we are so enjoying ourselves.

susie,

that horse is very sweet and spooke proof so i feel very good about abbey learning on him. plus she just loves paint horses.

lola,
abbey was so at ease...i was so proud of her. it was great to see my two daughters working so well together too. i am so glad to be able to let one teach the other and visa versa.
that horse is great and just right for learning on.

marnie,

i had horses in my youth and was so glad to have that as a hobby. after i started having children it just went by the wayside. i am happy esther and abbey love them so much too.
so glad you had the same for your growing up years too.

ssb,

it is just fine...i am having a hard time keeping up with anybody's blogs these days...but not because i don't want to.
life just needs to be lived and it is a fulltime thing. i am glad to know you put me on your list...as i do so enjoy your visits.
thank you for all your kind words for abbey, jesse and ellery...it has been a month so far of celebrating...busy...busy.
i had no idea there were peonies that did not smell. i like the scent so much and it is so short lived.

cheryl,

it is my pleasure to be able to share these moments with my family and friends...like you. i love to see anybody find their niche'...but when it is your own child the thrill is even greater. this is something abbey has wanted for a long time and she just knew it was something she would love. i love when good memories flood back in...that is special.

wendy,

i hope to ride again soon too. i have off and on but life gets too hectic to make that a priority. i am so glad you enjoyed seeing the lesson played out. i was certainly enthralled being the one observing. i do hope you get to do it again one day soon...how was your vacation? i haven't been keeping up with anybody.

I remember when my daughter took her horseback lessons. Ahhh... sweet memories.
Abby looks as if she took right to her horse.
Wonderful photos; wonderful memories in the making.

darla,

i am not sure if i was nervous...i felt very confident in esther's ability to watch out for her little sister...but i probably held my breath at time.

q,

i can hardly believe it's my baby doing this...we have been through so many lessons,(with other children) practises, and sporting events. i love it that she gets to have these lessons from and with her big sis.

Seeing your Abbey with my "son" Rene' made giving him up so much easier. I've loved him since the day he was born. He was my real son Michael's first and only horse. Michael and Rene' grew and learned together until we moved to California and couldn't take horses with us. I feel you will give him a great home in Tennessee and if you ever have any questions please email me (cynfarn04@aol.com). I would love to keep in touch with him. Cyndi Farnham

cyndi,

i am so glad you feel that way...renny is such a special horse and we can tell he has been loved all his life. we are already in love with him too.
abbey just couldn't believe he was her horse...she had been riding him for days and i wanted her to be so in love with him before i ever told her. she cried. she has been praying for a horse for 5 years. i will be updating the blog once we get him up here...so i hope you will come by often and check in on him.
thanks for loving him and we are so happy to be getting an opportunity to love him too.
