are you fading away, magic?

i am almost convinced that fall is my favourite time of the year.
now it seems to be fading away. i will embrace winter.
i want to enjoy all seasons.
they each have their own beauty.

what is more wonderful than taking a walk with family
after thanksgiving dinner together?
not much in my mind, except photographing the memory.

leaves coloured brightly are almost gone, even the ones that have fallen.
they have been blown by the cool wind of the north.
most of the ripen berries have been foraged by the birds.
the ones left are jewel toned. simply beautiful.

on this brisk november day, the sun is shining and bidding us ado.
autumn is coming to the end and winter is swiftly entering our days.
will there be snow, i hope so.

i will embrace winter and it's charms.
goodbye november.

I agree fall is my favorite season of the year, but every year I have to travel a long way to see it.

Dear Marmee......it is wonderful to embrace each season and accept the changes......winter is a powerful season....I bow to her.....

I took my grandchildren to a Christmas fair.....it was cold and pouring with rain.....we were all soggy and weary......suddenly a tiny voice said "Isn't everything beautiful Nanna?"......Poppi had said just what I was thinking.....we had both seen an old oak covered in tiny white fairy lights.....we could hear children singing carols.....despite the downpour is was perfect.....

A lovely nostalgic post but one that is walking into the next season with a smile......

My hubbie and I had to take a little walk after Thanksgiving dinner too. Ours wasn't as scenic as yours though. We did see some beautiful Bradford pears but that was about it.
Enjoyed your post and pictures today Marmee.

yes cheryl, i am determined to walk into winter with a smile. i do tend to hibernate somewhat during the cold, damp winter months. i was born in the sunshine state of fl. tn is quite different in winter, darker not so much sun but i love it otherwise. i will notice winter with her beauty. thanks for sharing with me your insight and story, it does encourage me.

susie, our walk made the day so nice. dh and i went by ourselves(with our three dogs) while turkey was cooking in the woods. then after dinner on the street with all our guests. i told them to bring comfortable shoes for walking. it was good to enjoy the day with fresh air.

So glad you got to take a stroll after all your hard work on Thanksgiving. The images are very beautiful and oh, so full of remembrances of TN autumn.

I took a walk on the beach after dinner and I surely needed to walk off all that food.

You will embrace winter even though your autumn is fading and it will have its own whimsy and beauty to enjoy. Then, just think, spring will be right around the corner. I have a sneaky suspicion you might say spring is your favorite season when once it makes its way to your garden...

marmee said...

meems, you know me well. i do love spring too. it will be fun to be planting and watching the blooms and buds bursting forth. i am looking forward to all of that.

walking after dinner was so nice. it was cool and the sun was going down our road is the less traveled so it was nice. did you walk alone? the beach just the sound of it sounds wonderful. i have to visit the beach next time i am down.
i am looking for the beauty in the cold, i do love the starkness of the trees. they are beautiful leaveless. whimsy in winter has a nice ring to it.

Thanks so much for visiting me today Marmee. I think we've "met" before. You're Meems sister, right?

You are a talented photographer! I really enjoyed seeing your autumn photos. I also like your Martin Luther quote in the sidebar. I heard that one for the first time today in church :)

Yes, I did draw my header. Thanks so much for the compliment :)

Your photos are lovely.

I agree, I dreaded winter but now it is here. 6-inches of snow and no letting up. I will enjoy the winter for its beauty and for the opportunity if gives me to pursue things other than in the garden.

yes gail, we are getting snow today but nothing is sticking as of yet. it would be a great way to welcome winter though. it will be fun seeing your area covered with snow and how you capture it as well. last year it snowed on jan
1st...do you remember...it made an impression on me. well happy winter to you.

marmee said...

meems, i have already been looking...i was going to ask is jan or feb better for you. the fares are quite reasonable. i was thinking jan. dh has already said yes coz he knows i struggle with the darkness of winter days.
let's really talk or email about it.
