ellery and her tower of blocks.
she was so proud of it!

this is our oldest son david's son, aiden donovan. we celebrated his first birthday at marmee and & g-pa's house. of course there was cake and aiden seemed to love our homemade effort.

he enjoyed the cake for quite awhile.

then we opened presents with elle's help!

he seemed to enjoy that as well.

wearing his new bib.

we finger painted hand and foot prints.

it was messy fun!

aiden loved knocking over the block towers!

Your family is precious!
I have enjoyed reading your journal and looking at all your pictures. We both love the birds and the bugs and the blooms.
It is a joy to get to know you.

What a cutie he is! Aiden, I mean! He looks so much like David II, those big brown eyes! Wish we could have joined you, looks like a great time was had by all. I know you loved having everyone together again.

gigi,

i'm glad you had a chance to see your g.grandson even if it is via internet. aiden looks so much like a combination of the two of them but the chucky, sturdiness of david. he has such a mellow personality "thaaaaank God!" he just took everything in stride.
i am so blessed we got to spend a special day together.
thank you for the baseball outfit!

A wonderful party. Those years when they are so small and everything is new and exciting to them. Those are great times.

I enjoyed reading the previous post about your garden shed. Very nice. I especially like that bench.

Wow, he has gotten sooo very big and extra cute too. What a cute cake and idea to do the footprints. I also love your story (down below-the one about Ell) I love you all and this is really hard always looking at the pictures and never being there. I am missing you BAD!

cheryl,
i agree homemade is best, darling hubby usually makes the cake and i decorate it. we have a tradition of putting coins in the cake. kids that don't like cake even want a piece to see if they have a treasure. fun times!
